I wrote From the Edges of a Broken World with the idea of encouraging dialogue, a conversation. It is unfortunate that the reaction of the editorial board of the magazine has effectively shut that down.
I am grateful to every single person who has reached out, and heartened by the many who read my essay and get the importance of a nuanced perspective. Why is it so hard to hold others in our hearts? This, in our broken world, is what being human demands of us.
Dear Joanna
You have a very special heart. Your eyes see thru the fog of prejudice on both sides.
I don't understand how this can continue. I don't understand how this will continue.
You have such a gift for compassion. You have such a gift of expression.
I admire your work and your heart.

Thanks so much ♥️♥️♥️
Your well written and heartfelt essay reached me in ways that other pieces (or polemics) on this tragedy have fallen short.
You shine with the light of good will and shared humanity.
Thank you.

Joanna, I thank you for writing your article "From the Edges of a Broken World". It helps me to know about someone within Israel who respects the Palestinians as a people who also have a right, just like Israel, to coexist with respect from the Israelis. It is sad what the magazine "Guernica" did to remove your article with the rationale that there is no room for your type of opinion. I guess they think they are some group of leftist "purists" who own the truth.
Please keep writing and sharing to help people move beyond emotions and be open to dialogue and solutions.

Dear Joanna, I just read your piece, From the Edges of a Broken World. I have no words except to say it comforts me that you are in the world and able to write, and that I'm able to read what you write. Sending you much love, and a hug if you need one. Warmest regards from Canada, Kim
